Twitter Polls For Musk: Bringing Back TikTok Precursor Vine

Elon Musk has started a poll on Twitter Inc. asking users whether he should bring back short-video app Vine, which was shut down by the social media platform in 2016. The CEO of Tesla Inc. had promised last week that he would do anything to save the app from extinction.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk has run several polls on Twitter, including one that asked whether he should sell a portion of his stake in Tesla Inc. and another poll asking if the platform should include an edit button to allow users to edit their posts before they make them public. The polls, however, appeared to be too simplistic to accurately reflect the opinions of Tesla’s nearly 300 million unique monthly active users (MAUs).


Twitter bought Vine in 2012 and it helped a raft of internet stars get noticed by a wider audience. Those creators eventually left the platform over disagreements over compensation. It was then shut after Twitter was unwilling to continue investing in the app.

According to New York time report, the response has been overwhelming, with more than 700,000 users voting in the Vine poll.
